An unusual and beautifully painted portrait of a Native American Indian Chief. Watercolour on ivorine laid flat onto a thick piece of card, signed with the artists initials E.W. and dated 1931, (lower right). Housed in a stylised thick gauge copper art-nouveau frame, with convex glass. The artists name, address and title are written on the back of the frame.

Portrait: 3 1/4 x 2 5/8 in. (8.3 x 6.7 cm).
Frame: 4 1/4 x 3 1/2 in. (10.8 x 9 cm).

Ivorine is a thin sheet of translucent white plastic / celluloid, most commonly used by miniaturists in the early 20th century.
