Alessandro Cittadini was an accomplished Italian artist of the first half of the 19th century. He was mentioned as working ca.1820 in Rome, around 1850 in Genua, and in 1854-55 in Rotterdam. Works by him can be seen in the Museum of Bruxelles. In their book ” Antissier et le portrait miniature Romantique en Belgique “, published in 1998, Bodo Hofstetter and Philippe Plantage suppose the artist had lived a long time in Antwerp – numerous portrait miniatures of Antwerp’s residents were painted by him.
