Advertises: By the King’s Royal Letters Patent. Urling’s Lace. Geo. Fred. Urling & Co. Lace Manufacturers to the Royal Family and to Her Late Majesty by Special Appointment. 392 Strand From 143 Cheapside. The superior clearness and transparency of Urling’s lace, are best seen by shining and holding it up to the light… [the card includes two samples of lace, one which is ‘Common Lace Full of Fibre’ and the other ‘Urling’s Lace Free from Fibre’].” On the verso is a copy of the Royal Warrant granted by Queen Charlotte in 1817. Engraved and printed in black ink on wove paper. The print is detached from its original blue card (support) and will be shipped in a clear archival acid-free polyester sleeve.
Provenance: Sir Ambrose Heal (1872-1859). Chairman of Heals furniture shop in Tottenham Court Road. Authority on London shops and trades on which he published many articles and books.
