Pair of China Trade Paintings of Junks and other Vessels. Oil paintings on canvas; each bearing the red “Namcheong Painter” stamp on the back. Both paintings are missing their frames and have some minor paint loss, otherwise the condition is generally considered to be good.

Namcheong, also spelled Nam Cheong, was a painter who likely had a studio in Whampoa. He was frequently commissioned to create ship and port scenes by Western clients. Many of his canvases share the same oval format and compositional interplay of light on water.
