Vera Truman – Stylish 1920s Portrait of a Woman Wearing a Cloche Hat

£160.00

1 in stock

Signed in pencil Vera Truman (lower right). Pencil with black ink and grey wash on white paper, hinged (glued) at the top onto a separate sheet of wove paper with black and grey framing lines. The drawing is in good condition with some minor creasing and light areas of staining. The backing paper has a large area of brown staining, probably created from an old acidic backboard. The picture would be greatly improved by replacing the old backing paper and replicating the existing frame lines onto a new sheet. The glass has been cleaned and the old backing board has been replaced with new conservation standard non-acidic framing board. Displayed in a mid-20th century white metal frame and glazed.

Drawing: 10 11/16 x 9 15/16 in. (27.1 x 25.3 cm).
Frame: 17 1/8 x 16 3/8 in. (43.5 x 41.6 cm).
