Description

An almost identical view by William Evans, dated 1843 is in the collection of the Bristol Museum & Art Gallery. This example is smaller and not as highly finished so is likely to be a plein-air sketch for our finished painting.

Condition: A few tears have been expertly repaired on three sides of the sheet and one missing area at the bottom has been infilled. The repairs have been sensitively done and are not altogether noticeable. The picture has been laid onto museum quality acid-free board and mounted.
